Wow, 20 years!  I can’t believe this league is still going strong.  From teams joining and departing, league expansions and contractions, and life just life’ing … this league is still here!!  That speaks volumes and demonstrates the bond these owners have and the continued appeal of this fantastic league, the PTI Fantasy Football League!!!

Most of you guys know me, but for those who don’t, my name is Lou Burger and I am the official Beat Writer of the PTI Fantasy Football League.  It’s been almost ten years since I’ve last contributed to this league, before retiring in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!  But, the Commissioner reached out to let me know about the 20^th anniversary season and asked me to give it one last ride and join you guys for the celebration.  Hell yeah, brother!!!  So, as before, I will be bringing you the storylines and game recaps on a weekly basis and will be your primary source for all the action in the league! 

Before diving into the season, let’s take a quick look at league statistics over the past 19 years. 

Total different Champions:  14

Most team championships:  3 (Montgomery $Bills & NY KILLERS)

Most times a team was runner-up:  3 (Deez Nuts/Whodat Homeboys)

Most Toilet Bowl wins:  2 (Deuce & A Quarter Tiger, Jones Boys, REGULATORS, Uptown Hot Boys)

Current consecutive years with a new winner:  4

Most points scored in a season:  1,441 (Clown Baby; 2013)

Highest scoring week in a season:  170 (DEEP MIND FUCK; 2021)  

Looking at the current season, we have a great mix of teams competing in this expanded league for the anniversary season, going from 20 teams last year to 32 teams this season.  The expansion opened the door for previous owners to return and enjoy the league again.  Some of our original owners that returned are Cooper Road Cougars, The Pug Mafia, and Uptown Hot Boys.  Other owners that previously played with us for a stretch returning are SNOOP HOG, The Folk Yo Couch Ninjas!, and The Official’s Timeout.  Some names may have changed over the years, but the owners are still the same.  It’s great seeing everyone! 

Now that the band is back together and the NFL season is about to kick off, it’s time to get this party started.  The trash talking has already begun on the Message Board, and it’s no surprise that the regular culprits are at it, lol.  Even OG fell right back into the trash talking like he never left. 

I didn’t get a chance to assess and ranks rosters, due to trying to get out of the jungle, so we will start with highlighting the preliminary power ranking leaders.  The leaders by conference, based on RTS roster rankings, are: 

• 2TRILL Chevy Riders (Jaworski)
• Gatorbait (Reali)
• Gotham City Enforcers (Wilbon)
• NY KILLERS (Kornheiser)

Other teams with a strong roster include Clown Baby, Gridiron Guru, Fear Thy Naber, The Action Jacksons, and The Folk Yo Couch Ninjas!.  We’ll start to see what teams are made of over the first few weeks of the season. 

Game of the Week 

2 Da Money vs. NY KILLERS

Our first Game of the Week of the season features the defending champion and is the only matchup of league champions.  2 Da Money, under 4 the Loot, won the championship last season in his first year in the league!  Was it skills, or luck?  He gets to prove which this season.  The NY KILLERS are a 3-time champion and a staple in the league.  However, he hasn’t won one in almost 10 years so that shine ain’t shining like it used to.  Adding another ring would break him from the tie for the most in the league and reestablish that championship luster.  We get to start the season off with a banger!!
