Week 9 - Recap

By The Commissioner Tue Nov 4 7:42pm CT

This week pushed us closer to the back stretch of the season and brought heightened tension and more emphasis on positioning for the playoffs.  We identified which divisions were the tightest and where the key races may fall.  Let’s see what position teams finished in this week.

This week’s Game of the Week was Dart Dynasty (4-4) vs. The Pug Mafia (5-3).  These two were in the top three spots of the Knuckleheads Division and separated by only one game.  The Pug Mafia was trying to expand his division lead while Dart Dynasty wanted to pull even.  This was a low scoring, grind it out type affair.  The Pug Mafia had a couple of scorers in double figures, with Kyren Williams (12) and Cameron Dicker (12).  By Sunday night, he led Dart Dynasty 45-29, but she still had three players to go Monday night to his one.  Although she didn’t get a lot of scoring Monday night, she got enough.  Dart Dynasty (5-4) picked up 20 points to The Pug Mafia’s (5-4) three points to pull out the 49-48 win.  This was an exciting game!  They are now part of a 3-way tie for the division lead.

This week’s most explosive game was 2TRILL Chevy Rider (4-4) vs. Gridiron Guru (4-4).  2TRILL came through in a big way this week with six of eight starters scoring double digits, led by Justin Herbert (24), Pittsburgh Steelers (17), and Jameson Williams (14).  Gridiron Guru tried to keep pace with three 10+ point scorers, but his remaining starters had 3 points or less.  2TRILL Chevy Rider (5-4) drove off on Gridiron Guru (4-5), winning 96-62.

This week’s most competitive game was Gotham City Enforcer (4-4) vs. New Kid on the Block (3-5).  These two exchanged shots throughout the match.  The Enforcer hit big with his quarterback, Matthew Stafford (33), but the Kid answered with hers, Josh Allen (24).  The Enforcer’s next blow was with Eddy Pineiro (13) and the Kid responded with Puka Nacua (14).  By Sunday’s end, the Enforcer built a 63-53 lead, but the Kid still had one starter, Marvin Harrison Jr. (MHJ), going Monday night.  And the good thing for MHJ, Kyler Murray was out for the night so he should get some targets.  And that he did, receiving 10 targets, turning them into 96 yards and a touchdown, giving him 10 points.  This left the matchup in 63-63 tie!  The Gotham City Enforcer is now 4-4-1 and the New Kid on the Block is 3-5-1.

Next week's Game of the Week is Black Water (5-4) vs. The Pug Mafia (5-4).  This is another leg of that 3-way tie for the Knuckleheads Division lead we talked about earlier.  The Pug Mafia gets to run it back and Black Water gets to add their say to the mix.

See you next week!!!
