The second half and third quarter of the season went off with a bang, producing the highest league average scoring week (81) of the season. It seems that teams got the memo and understood that it was time to produce or risk falling too far behind and possibly missing the playoffs. The usual suspects continued to pull out wins and take losses, while the others were all over the place. Let’s see who survived.
This week’s Game of the Week was Gridiron Guru (3-3) vs. Unbeatable By You (3-3). This was a battle between Kornheiser Conference foes that were in second place in their respective divisions. This was an opportunity to see how they stacked up against one another in case they ran into each other in the postseason. And, when the match kicked off, it was pretty clear who was the better team this week. Gridiron Guru was only able to generate three players with double-digit scoring while Unbeatable By You had four, with all scoring 20+ points. Unbeatable By You (4-3) defeated Gridiron Guru (3-4) convincingly, 112-52.
This week’s most explosive game was Whodat Homeboys (1-5) vs. Dak to the Future (1-5). Dak to the Future exploded for 122 points this week from five players scoring double digits, of which four scored 20+ points, led by Dak Prescott (29), Jonathan Taylor (26), and DeVonta Smith (22). Whodat Homeboys tried to keep up with four players of his own scoring double digits, but it wasn’t enough. Dak to the Future (2-5) defeated Whodat Homeboys (1-6) 122-74. Dak to the Future has now won two out of three games, after starting 0-4, and is one game out of third place in the division, the final playoff position.
This week’s most competitive game was Uptown Hot Boys (4-2) vs. 4 the Loot (1-5). This was a close, low scoring game. 4 the Loot had two players that scored double digits, but also four players that scored zero. The Hot Boys also had two double-digit scorers and only one with zero points. When Sunday was done, 4 the Loot held a 45-36 lead with one player to go on Monday night to the Hot Boys two players. They both started the same player Monday, so it really came down to the Hot Boys’ one player, who scored only 6 points. 4 the Loot (2-5) pulled out the 53-50 victory over the Uptown Hot Boys (4-3).
Other games of interest were San Antonio Shocker (3-3) vs. Montgomery $Bills (2-4) and Mudd Butt (3-3) vs. REGULATORS (6-0).
These were high output games where all four teams scored over 100 points. Montgomery $Bills (3-4) defeated San Antonio Shockers (3-4) 114-101 off of great performances from Jahmyr Gibbs (32), Patrick Mahomes (24), and A.J. Brown (23). The REGULATORS (7-0) defeated Mudd Butt (3-4) 109-102 based on strong outings from Quinshon Judkins (28), Christian McCaffrey (24), and Drake Maye (22).
Next week's Game of the Week is Clown Baby (3-4) vs. SNOOP HOG (3-4). These two are tied for third place in the Errors & Omission Division, battling for the last playoff position.
See you next week!!!
